Other Local Flying Clubs
Here is a partial list of other RC Flying Clubs
(Thanks to UTE R/C for the list)
CUPRA: Central Utah Pylon Racing Association. CUPRA hosts 1/2A sized glow and electric E-200 (200 sqare inches of wing area and cheap electric gear) pylon races. They typically race on the second Saturday of the month from March to November. See their website for racing schedule and location.
There are no membership requirements. Just show up and race!
UTE: The Ute R/C Association: They are an AMA-sanctioned club, flying principally out of the club field and the Jordan Modelport in Salt Lake City, UT.
They principally fly glow, gas, and electric powered aircraft. However, a frequent refrain heard from club members is "if it flies, bring it!"
BRC: The Bridgerland R/C Club serves Cache Valley. They run a Google Groups Forum for their members and guests.
CCRCC: The Cedar City Radio Control Club, an AMA sanctioned club, flies out of Cedar City about sixty miles north of St. George.
DWRCC: The Desert Wings R/C Club, AMA charter club #4322, flies out of Price, Utah. They have a nice flying site.
FRCC: The Falcon R/C Club, AMA sanctioned club #4396, operates out of Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, UT.
You must be able to get on-base to reach their site, and, of course, the flight ceiling is 400 feet.
IMSF: The InterMountain Silent Flyers, AMA sanctioned club #411, are principally devoted to unpowered and electric flight along Wasatch Front.
They fly Point of the Mountain, Herriman Field, and the IMSF Club Field in Kearns.
NMA: Nampa Model Aviators flies out of Nampa, ID, about 6 hours north of Salt Lake City.
NURCAC, the Northern Utah R/C Aircraft Club, has an active web site and a flying field in Ogden, UT.
RPRCC: The Remote Possibilities R/C Club in St. George, UT hosts the very popular "Jet Rally" every year, in which some of our members participate. We Utes don't have a February fun-fly; instead, we go to St. George to party with this very active club.
SDA: The South Davis Aeromodelers have a flying site in Davis County.
UHA: The Utah Heli Association hosts the Southwest International Radio Control Helicopter Association (IRCHA) fun-fly in Saratoga Springs each year.
UHA and UVA have a frequency-sharing agreement: if you fly with UHA at their field, you must not fly on 72MHz or other aircraft-designated bands.
2.4GHz, of course, is OK. The UHA maintains a discussion forum.
UFLY: The Utah Flyers are an ad-hoc "outlaw" Utah County-based group.
They are famous (or is it notorious?) for hosting plans for the "Wild Wing", a 36" flying wing designed for aerial combat.
They have an active forum where they coordinate activities.
You really have to watch a combat day some time. It is something else!
UROC: The Utah Rocket Club sponsors regular model rocketry competitions and launches. Their annual "Hellfire" event attracts a lot of R/C flyers and rocketeers alike.
WAM: The Wasatch Aero Modelers, AMA sanctioned club #1350, are based in Syracuse, Utah, with members in Weber, Davis, and Logan Counties.
